Client Spotlight: Maria Kent

Client Spotlight: Maria Kent

The best part of our day is seeing clients like Maria. We love getting to gab about anything from what book we're reading to parenting and of course what we're wearing this weekend.

Maria is such a bright spot in the day; she always comes in with a huge smile on her face, brings us sweet treats regularly, and truly is building a fabulous wardrobe with Council. She chooses pieces thoughtfully, based on her lifestyle and body type, and makes sure new items can pair back to her existing wardrobe.

I asked her to be our first client spotlight! Here, she will take us through a typical day in the life of Maria. Let's see what keeps that beautiful smile on her face!

Director, Training and Documentation at TSYS

4:30 am - alarm, jump out of bed, let dogs out, breakfast of eggs, medjool dates, itWorks keto coffee (I grab a latte on non-workout days)

5:15 am- workout at TSYS gym, 4-5 miles on the treadmill while catching up on social media/news, daily devotional, and some “add to cart”-ing (I try to sit on these for a day, I’m still half asleep after all!)

6:45 am- work day begins, emails, editing

8:30 am - touch base with staff/managers on the day’s schedule and priorities

9:00 am - meetings/calls/webinars

10:30 am - snack on cheese/cashews, my one Coke Zero allowed for the day

12:15 pm- lunch errands, let dogs out, something vegetarian at home. So glad I live in Midtown and can run home!

1:15 pm - more edits, budget stuff, department reports

2:30 pm - handful of almonds and/or piece of fruit, Twizzlers (quick energy boost and sweet tooth satisfier)

3:00 pm - edits, wrap up emails

4:00 pm - leave work for errands or volunteer organization meetings

5:00 pm - catch up with college bound daughter, discuss evening plans

6:00 pm - dinner of 75% vegetables, 25% protein, maybe a craft beer or two - current favorite is Omaha Brewing Rush South Pale Ale. Strawberries and frozen yogurt for dessert.

7:15 pm - face time (not FaceTime). I look forward to my nightly skin care routine and trying new, safer products. We wear our faces every day!

7:30 pm - couch time with little dog, good book (just finished Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, now reading The Guest Book by Sarah Blake), or latest TV series. Still grieving the end of Big Little Lies (didn’t know Meryl Streep could amaze me more!) but I can finally cancel HBO. Hand weights for upper body workout while watching TV.

9:30 pm - set alarm and bed!

Style - I’m still adjusting to the very casual dress code at work. Noooo, I do NOT miss pantyhose and suits that we had to wear every day when I first joined TSYS! I love good jeans and I love dressing them up. My favorite white skinnies from Council have gone through two seasons and are still good as new.  I have never had white jeans last more than one season. I call them “butter” because they are so soft and comfortable. They haven’t lost their shape and they wash beautifully. I wear them to work, shopping on the weekends, and for dinner out. With heels, sneakers, booties, all the above. My absolute favorite blazer goes with everything. I can’t even make a list, because EVERYthing. And I can get cold at work, restaurants, church. So also, everyWHERE. I bug Clare daily to find me this style in more colors. And so, about Clare....

Service - okay, so we all know we should shop local and support our community. But let me tell you what our local owners are too humble to say. Their service is out of this world, people. I have Clare’s personal cell and she answers my texts at any hour. I can shoot her a photo of me in front of my bedroom mirror for urgent outfit advice and she’s on it. Also, she and her girls let me know when new clothes/my sizes come in that I may want. Other local boutiques treat me this way, too. Say it with me - Shop Local!
